Sonic Foundry teams up with area businesses to deliver Mallards baseball games via the Web
Every pitch to be delivered wirelessly using TDS’ WiMAX technology and Mediasite webcasting technology.
MADISON, Wis. - For the second year in a row, Sonic Foundry Inc. and TDS are teaming up with the Madison Mallards to bring the teams' baseball games to a computer near you. The games will be carried live on the Web using Mediasite by Sonic Foundry. New this year - every home and away game will be webcast live and each will be delivered wirelessly using TDS' WiMAX service.
The first live webcast will take place on Thursday, May 29, when the Mallards open the season against the La Crosse Loggers. There is no cost for fans to enjoy all the live action from the convenience of their computer.
"We're excited to once again offer fans a way to watch the game when they can't make it out to the ballpark," says Vern Stenman, general manager of the Madison Mallards. "It's great to have the support of TDS and Sonic Foundry. Their generosity and technical prowess make it possible for our fans to watch all the Mallards baseball games this season."
TDS is providing the Internet connectivity via WiMAX - a revolutionary, wireless high-speed Internet and phone service. TDS is also hosting the online content, making it easy for fans to connect to live games via Sonic Foundry's patented Mediasite webcasting and content management system.
Since 2001, the Mallards have been entertaining fans through a unique atmosphere that's become a staple of summertime fun for the entire family. It's also become a Madison cornerstone.
Fans can visit www.livemallardsbaseball.com to watch all home and away games live. Game highlights will also be available for on-demand viewing throughout the season.
Mallards Baseball
Now in its eighth year, the Madison Mallards plan to build off the success of the 2007 season. Last summer the team drew 209,856 fans and surpassed the one million mark in franchise attendance on August 10; a feat no other summer collegiate baseball team has achieved. Fans game-day experience was enhanced through the addition of closed-circuit television, Stoddard's Smokehouse, and the Home Plate Club, featuring 130 old County Stadium seats with wait service. A 200-foot zip-line was also installed for the team's mascot, Maynard G. Mallard, to ride before each game. The Mallards open play at home on May 29 against the La Crosse Loggers at 7:05 p.m.
